It has been 12 years since the release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and six years since Evo featured the title, and the community has not dropped a beat. Over all of these years, the passion of the players has thrived. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 launches our Throwback Tournament program, and we couldn’t be more excited to see how players came together to show up to celebrate the title.

KBR Kane Blueriver opened the tournament with the win, moving forward to Winners Finals. Jibril followed with a definitive 3-0 victory over HB Evasion. While LiberalTerminator seemed to have their set secured, Spartan Throne did their best to get a match in the set, ending 3-1. Evasion’s triple swordsman team was a force to be reckoned with, going 3-1 against Mundank.

There was a fantastic fight between Jibrill and Kane Blueriver in Winners Finals, but the Zero loops were too strong, ending at a close 3-2. Losers Semi-Finals brought us back to Evasion and LiberalTerminator. Evasion’s Zero May Cry team continued to dominate as they climbed to Losers Finals. While Kane Blueriver put up a good fight, Evasion’s tenacity and team synergy was too much.

Grand Finals featured a mirror match between Jibrill and Evasion. The dual Zero May Cry energy brought tensions to an all-time high. This was the first time Jabrill reached Grand Finals in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 throughout their six appearances, while Evasion went the distance in their first Evo showing. Jibrill showed complete mastery over the Devil May Cry team, going 3-0 in Grand Finals and finally becoming an Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Evo Champion!

Final Standings for Evo 2023:

1. Jibrill

2. HB Evasion

3. KBR Kane Blueriver
